Canton-Potsdam Hospital is a 94-bed community hospital with a formal teaching-hospital affiliation. We’re in the midst of an ambitious plan to proactively meet changing community needs for more coordinated care. We began by establishing hospitalist program; we then created additional modern practice space to provide more services to our community on an outpatient basis, including a $7-million state-of-the-art consolidated cancer center on our main campus; we reoriented our quality program toward preventing infection and providing the best outcomes for patients; and we did all this while maintaining the high level of service and outstanding technology our patients and physicians have come to expect.
This year, we implement phase two of a $2-million electronic health records implementation: physicians in our hospital-owned clinics will be the first to benefit.
Our mission is to provide skilled, compassionate, cost-effective care that promotes wellness and meets community needs; since 2007, this approach has attracted sixteen additional exceptional physicians to our already stellar medical staff.
Here you can concentrate on patient care. You’ll have almost zero commute time and hassle, low-cost housing, and be surrounded by people and amenities expected in college towns like ours: world-class researchers, great libraries, a world-renowned music school drawing international performers, Division I sports teams, farmers’ markets and a robust Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) movement for fresh local foods, as well as high-speed wireless in local coffee and book shops.
We are home to one of the best school systems in the nation in a safe environment.
If you love the outdoors, you’ll find some of the most sought-after skiing, hiking, and mountain biking in the nation right at your doorstep. If you enjoy a more cosmopolitan atmosphere, Ottawa and Montreal are a quick day-trip away.
